Green Open Space in Jakarta must Be Intensified

City Council (DPRD)'s Commission D Member, Pantas Nainggolan revealed that the Cipta Karya, Spatial Planning, and Land Agency should further intensify green open space (RTH) up to 30 percent in accordance with Law No. 26/2007 on Spatial Planning.

"Green open space will donate clean air, thus it will have an impact on the health and life of Jakarta people," he expressed, at City Council building, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (2/27).

He also asks them to arrange the green open space in accordance with zonation.

Another member, Misan Samsuri stated that it is much needed in a bid to handle air pollution in Jakarta, which is why its presence should be intensified.

"So far we only have 14 percent. From that number, 10 percent of them is the green belt in the private area, namely the residential area," he said.
